Independent Patient Advocacy · Chandler, AZ

You don't have to navigate the healthcare system alone.

As a physician assistant, I founded Healthcare Journey Advocates to give patients and families what the system too often doesn't: someone who listens, explains, and walks alongside you every step of the way.

A Quick Introduction

What is patient advocacy?

For anyone who's ever felt confused, rushed, or unheard in a medical setting — this is for you.

A patient advocate is someone who works on your behalf to help you understand your healthcare, communicate effectively with your providers, and make confident, informed decisions about your care.

We don't replace your healthcare providers — we work alongside them. We help you make sense of complex medical information, organize your records and medications, prepare for appointments, navigate insurance, and ensure your voice is heard at every step.

An independent patient advocate works only for you — never for an insurance company, hospital, or provider group. Your interests are the only ones at the table.

Whether you're managing a new diagnosis, helping an aging parent, or simply tired of feeling lost in the system, advocacy gives you a knowledgeable, compassionate partner — so you don't have to face it alone.

A note from Maura

Every patient deserves someone who treats them like family.

As a physician assistant, I saw firsthand how confusing and frustrating healthcare has become — patients rushed through appointments, families left to piece together medical records, important questions never asked.

I created Healthcare Journey Advocates because I believe better care is possible. With every patient I work with, I ask myself the same question I always have: "Is this how I'd want my own parents to be treated?"

That's what guides my work. And it's what you can expect from me, every time we meet.

Why Choose Us

What you can expect, every time.

An independent advocate works only for you — never for an insurance company, hospital system, or any other party. Your interests are the only ones at the table.

i.

We truly listen.

Your concerns are always heard, respected, and prioritized. No rushing, no dismissing — just thoughtful, attentive support.

ii.

We empower you.

Our work isn't to take over your healthcare — it's to help you become your own most confident, informed advocate.

iii.

We save you time and money.

By preventing duplicate tests, billing errors, and miscommunication, advocacy often pays for itself many times over.

iv.

We make it easier.

The healthcare system is overwhelming. Our job is to make it feel manageable — to bring clarity where there's confusion.

Long before I had a name for it, I was already advocating — keeping detailed notes, helping patients navigate red tape, and empowering people to make confident decisions.
