Meet Your Advocate

Hi, I'm Maura.

Years of working as a physician assistant taught me exactly why patients need someone in their corner — and inspired me to become that person.

Maura Tardif, MPAS, PA-C — Founder and Patient Advocate at Healthcare Journey Advocates in Chandler, Arizona

After 18 years as a physician assistant, I've seen firsthand how confusing, frustrating, and overwhelming the healthcare system can be. Too often, patients feel rushed, unheard, or alone — a reality that drove me to believe better care is possible.

My motivation comes from years of witnessing medical mistakes, poor communication, and preventable outcomes. I've always believed that if providers just took a little more time to listen, to care, and not to assume, our healthcare system would look very different — and far better.

Over time, I began to notice the subtle but important ways good care was being overlooked. I made it my mission to slow down, truly listen, and treat every patient as if they were my own family.

With every decision I made, I asked myself: "Is this how I would want my parents to be treated?" That question has guided me through every patient interaction and remains the foundation of my work today.

Long before I had a name for it, I was already advocating — keeping detailed notes for family members, helping patients navigate insurance red tape, and empowering people to make confident decisions. Every experience reinforced the same truth: patients deserve more than a fast-moving system. They deserve someone who will walk with them every step of the way.

That's why I created Healthcare Journey Advocates: to provide patients and families with the clarity, compassion, and peace of mind they need. To be an educator, a supporter, and a tireless advocate. To help people focus on what matters most — their health and their lives.

Because no one should have to face the healthcare system alone. And everyone deserves care delivered with heart.
